The traditional Jesse Tree traces the people in Jesus’ family tree or whakapapa who prepared the way for him to come to live on earth. The symbols we have used are to remind us of this.
Firstly, your ākonga will be delighted with a large Aotearoa Jesse tree. New Zealanders know this as the symbol of summer and Christmas. The Pōhutukawa is made up of 20 pieces and when glued will measure approx 1m x 1m. (It’s even stunning without your ornaments on.)
Learners will be able to decorate their tree with colourful ornaments specific to each event/person and story.
Another addition are some lovely native birds with messages in te reo Māori and English.
Lastly using the dates on the ornaments you will be able to learn to say the date in te reo Māori.
You can always use the tree for many other topic displays!
25 symbols are 11 cm
Tree is approx. 1m x 1m
